Facebook has revamped its news feed once again in what CEO Mark Zuckerberg said would help make the social site look more like a “personalized newspaper.”
It will split the News Feed into separate categories to give users more control over what status updates and news stories they see. Members will be able to switch between individual feeds for photographs, music and events, as part of the revamp.
The new look is also aimed to encourage people to spend more time on the site and to gain more advertising revenue. Advertisers will be able to use bigger pictures and video to encourage more clicks.
New features include:
- All Friends – a feed that shows you everything your friends are sharing
- Photos – a feed with nothing but photos from your friends and the Pages you like
- Music – a feed with posts about the music you listen to
- Following – a feed with the latest news from the Pages you like and the people you follow
Facebook’s News Feed redesign will begin its rollout on the Web starting today and will be available on mobile devices in the coming weeks.
